How Can severe Fever Along With Wrist Pain Be Treated?
My 2 year old niece sprained her wrist when her foot slipped off the ladder for the slide. There is not much swelling, yet it tends to get fever in it as though it were full of heat. We keep a cold cloth wrapped around it for short periods of time. What would be causing the heat? How can we tell if it is more than just a sprain?
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
first, I dont think that fever is related to ankle sprain and this may be just a coincidence if you ask me. Ankle sprain is in most cases self limiting and he should just rest, apply cold compresses, keep legs elevated and take nonsteroid painkillers such as ibuprofenum syrup. There is no need for anything else at this point. However, if there will be pain progression then xrays and cast immobilization should be considered. Also, his fever may be associated with resipratory infection or flu so you should look in this direction.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
